Ambon (ANTARA) - Police in the eastern Indonesian city of Ambon have arrested HU alias B as a suspect involved in recent terror bombing incidents.

Maluku regional police command spokesman Adjunct Senior Commissioner Johanis Huwae confirmed here on Friday that HU was not from the group that attacked a police post in Loki village in the district of Seram Bagian Barat (SBB) on May 16, 2005 that killed five members of the police`s Mobile Brigade.

He said the police were still investigating whether Hu was involved in the eight bomb explosions that happened in the provincial capital city following a communal clash on September 11, 2011.

"HU is indeed from a village in the district of SBB but is not from the group that attacked the Mobile Brigade police post in Loki," he said.

Johanis said according to the suspect the bomb confiscated from him as evidence came from one of his relatives in SBB.

"Our men have gone there to check the truth of his statement and also to intensify investigation to overcome the bomb terror that has so far disturbed the people`s sense of peace," he said.

HU was caught on November 23 following a report from the community, carrying a bag containing a bomb.

"The bomb contains materials which are the same as those found in the eight blasts since September 11 but investigation still continued to see if a network or a mastermind is involved in it," he said.
