Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has predicted that heavy rains will fall in Jakarta during the next one week starting Tuesday.

The heavy rains would have the potential of causing floods, the agency said on Monday.

Four areas that would be flooded on Tuesday were Kalideres, Cengkareng, Kembangan and Penjaringan, it said.

Head of the BMKG`s Information Service Hari Tirto said the agency had issued a notification about the flood-prone areas in the capital and potential rains on Tuesday (Nov 29).

"Yet Jakarta will remain safe from large flood because the rainfall will not be too high," he said.

He said the agency had analyzed rainfall that would happen in Jakarta on Tuesday. Light rains would fall in some parts of North Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta and East Jakarta, while mild rains would fall in some parts of West Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta and North Jakarta.

"Based on the results of the rainfall analysis, BMKG predicts that four areas have the potential of being flooded tomorrow (Tuesday). BMKG also has analyzed among the areas that have the low potential of being flooded will be small parts of Kalideres, Cengkareng, Kembangan and Penjaringan," he said.
