Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday called a plenary cabinet meeting to discuss efforts to create an efficient national logistics system.

"We want to make an efficient national logistics system," President Yudhoyono said at the Presidential Palace here.

The head of state further spoke of higher commodity prices in several parts of the country.

"Even some said the prices of certain commodities were lower than those in other countries... Don`t let this continue. There must be a concrete step," he said.

Therefore, he added infrastructure development in its connectivity with the Master Plan for Accelerated and Expanded Development of the Indonesian Economy (MP3EI) must be ensured that it would be able to make the system increasingly more efficient and credible so that all layers of the Indonesian community could buy goods and services at affordable prices.

"If there is price difference it must be rational because of transportation cost and so on," he said.

On the occasion, the President also called for an increase in capital spending in the state budget.

"I hope if there is unspent budget fund in the state budget it must not be used for other purposes, except capital spending and infrastructure development," he said.

He expressed hope that budget allocations for capital spending in 2013-2014 would be far higher than in the previous years to make it rational.

"Let us slash routine expenses as far as we can," he said.

Also present at the meeting were Vice President Boediono, members of the Presidential Advisory Board, United Indonesia Cabinet II ministers, the Bank Indonesia governor and the chairman of the National Economy Committee.
