Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Social Services Minister Salim Segaf Al Jufri is visiting Iran at the invitation of the Iranian minister of cooperatives, manpower and social welfare to foster ties between the two countries in humanitarian and social welfare sectors.

Minister Salim would be in Iran until December 28 for a four-day visit.

On Monday, Salim in the company of the ministry`s secretary general Toto Utomo BS, director general of protection and social guarantee Andi Zainal Abidin, director general of social rehabilitation Makmur Sunusi and the minister`s special aide met with officials of the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation (IKRF), Sapto Waluyo, the minister`s aide for good governance and public relations told Antara from Tehran on Tuesday night.

IKRF is known as a very influential humanitarian institute in Iran.

While in Tehran, Salim also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the social service ministry and IKRF and held talks with Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Manpower and Social Welfare Dr Reza Syekholeslam, Sapto said.

Following the talks, secretary general of the social service minister Toto Utomo BS signed a memorandum of understanding with IKRF secretary general Mohammad Mohammadi Fard in the presence of the minister and IKRF chief Hossein Anvari.

Sapto quoted the minister as saying that the visit was designed to reciprocate that of the IKRF chief who visited Indonesia in October 2011.(*)
