Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has signed Presidential Instruction No.17/2011 on corruption prevention and eradication actions as a follow-up to Presidential Instruction No.9/2011, Vice President Boediono said on Friday.

"It is a follow-up instruction that will take effect in January 2012 to take sustainable corruption prevention and eradication actions," the vice president said at his office after a meeting on corruption eradication.

Boediono said the new instruction was intended to improve corruption prevention and eradication efforts among government officials.

According to the vice president, Presidential Instruction No.9/2011 contained 11 programs and 102 plans of action, but the new one contained 13 programs and 106 plans of action about corruption prevention and eradication.

He said the implementation of the presidential instruction would be supervised by the Presidential Working Unit for Development Monitoring and Control (UKP4) and the results reported to the president every three months.

Meanwhile, UKP4 Chairman Kuntoro Mangkusubroto said supervision over the implementation of the presidential instruction would also involve the public.

"The instruction also calls for development of anti corruption culture and education as part of national character building and the anti corruption campaign," Kuntoro said. (*)
