Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A Jakarta Corruption Court session scheduled to hear witnesses in former Democrat Party politician M Nazaruddin`s case was adjourned after a one-hour suspension on Wednesday as the defendant was unwell.

"This trial session is adjourned until next week (Jan 11) to give the defendant a chance to recover," presiding judge Darmawati said.

The presiding judge also asked Mindo Rosalina Manulang and El Idris, who were to have been heard as the witnesses, to come again to the court session next week. Mindo Rosalina Manulang was the former marketing manager of PT Anak Negeri and El Idris Marketing Manager of PT Duta Graha Indah.

Beforehand, a physician of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Johannes Hutabarat, had checked Nazaruddin`s state of health and said the former Democrat Party treasurer was suffering from lack of sleep.

Johannes Hutabarat also said Nazaruddin had a potential gastric disorder and his blood pressure had dropped to 100/80.

"He needs to take a rest of at least two or three days to recover but it also depends on the doctor who will treat him," Johannes said.

According to Johannes, Nazaruddin`s condition could have worsened if the trial session had not been stopped because any questions or mental pressures would worsen his health.

Earlier, Nazaruddin had asked the presiding judge to suspend the court proceedings as he was being attacked by nausea and begged permission to go the restroom with his lawyer.
