Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Turkish Honorary Consul General for Medan Rahmat Shah said Turkey and Indonesia had increasingly developed productive cooperation, among others, in the education, social and economic fields.

"The cooperation between Turkey and Indonesia which has so for been running productively should be maintained and continue to be developed," Rahmat said here on Sunday.

The Turkish honorary consul general said that in the eduction sector for example, many Turkish educational institutions supported the development of Indonesia`s educational means and infrastructures.

With educational institutions run by Turkish representatives in Indonesia, many Indonesians have succeeded in making achievements in the international level, he said.

He said that the relations between the two countries in the fields of social and culture had also continued to increase in the post-tsunami disaster in Aceh in particular.

"The people of both nations can learn and utilize the results of increased bilateral relations that have been built so far," Rahmat said.

Rahmat who is also a member of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) for North Sumatra constituency said that both nations developed their relations on the basis of equal and mutual respect.

The same voice was also raised by Prof. Dr Orhan Kural, director of The Travellers Club of Turkey, in his recent visit to North Sumatra.

Orhan Kural who is also a professor of the Istanbul University, said that the institutional and people relations of both countries should continue to be maintained and strengthened under the spirit of togetherness and mutual respect to differences.

"Good understanding of differences will help build the spirit of togetherness and respect to differences among nations," he said.

He said that this principle constituted a wise principle in taking a step to develop better life and overcome conflict in the world.

Orhan said the Travellers Club of Turkey had the mission to develop international friendship and solidarity. (*)
