Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - What will happen to the membership of Democrat Party (PD) legislator Anglina Sondakh in the parliament and party after she has been named a corruption suspect will be decided through the existing party mechanism, the party`s leader said.

"We will leave the matter fully to the party mechanism because we have an ethics board. It will be decided by the ethics board," Democrat Party Chairman Anas Urbaningrum said here Monday.

Speaking to reporters after attending the installation of Denny Indrayana as a professor at Gajah Mada University`s law faculty, Anas said the status of Angelina`s membership after she had been named a suspect in a corruption case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was to him not of enough importance to be discussed now.

What mattered to the party leadership now was how to run the party organizationally in an effective and efficient way.

"To me, and I need to emphasize this, the important thing now is how to consolidate the party and see to it continues to run well," he said.(*)
