Balikpapan, East Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - A passenger of Lion Air JT 366/786 from Surabaya to Tarakan, East Kalimantan, died at Sepinggan airport, Balikpapan, at 6.15 pm local time.

Eko Prayitno (58), died when waiting a call for boarding, and entered the plane at Terminal B of the airport.

JT 366/786 was on a transit in Balikpapan after leaving Surabaya at 2.45 pm to Tarakan.

Earlier, according to Airport Duty Manager Yadi, Eko Prayitno looked pale, and brought to the airport`s clinic.

"But before arrival at the hospital he died, and then was taken to Kanujoso Djatiwibowo hospital," said Kasiadi, Operational Manajer of PT Angkasa Pura I which runs Sepinggan airport.

At the hospital, the dead man had subjected to an autopsy and prepared to be brought to Tarakan on Friday.

Eko Prayitno lived in Tarakan Tengah, Tarakan. He was a passenger of Lion Air in the company of a friend, Yoyok Kurniantoro (48) and his daughter Tri Bayu (26).

Yoyok`s address is Jalan Bromo, Kepanjen, Malang, and Bayu in Tarakan, Jalan Aki Balak.

According to Kasiadi and confirmed with the airport`s police chief adjunct police inspector Kifli S Sufu, his friend and his daughter, Eko was seriously ill, he had malaria and lack of nutrition. He managed to become passenger of the plane after obtaining a sick certificate from his doctor at the Juanda airport in Surabaya.

For Lion Air, the death of a passenger was the second time at Sepinggan airport.

On January 10, 2012, Abdul Mutolib (73), a passenger of Lion Air JT 363 for Surabaya, died in the plane.

Mutolib died before the plane took off, prompting the pilot to postpone the flight for 45 minutes to take care of the dead passenger.

Mutolib, lived in Bumur Munjungan, Trenggalek, East Java, died of serious asthma. (*)
