Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government has allocated Rp15.822 trillion for reconstruction of public schools in Indonesia in 2012, National Education and Culture Minister Muhammad Nuh said here on Tuesday.

He added that the money would be used for building 173,344 classrooms, including 132,217 classrooms in elementary schools and 41,027 classrooms in junior high schools.

"The money will be transferred to the respective schools starting this week," he said, adding that his ministry would closely observe the progress of the reconstruction .

Reconstruction of classrooms of schools in Indonesia has been continuing since 2011. Last year, about 21,500 classrooms had been renovated.
