Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta International Defense Dialogue 2012 will discuss steps to design global, regional and national strategies to fight violence committed in the name of religion, public unrest, terrorism and illegal arms distribution.

"Politicians, academics and policy makers from 45 countries including Asia, Europe and the United States are expected to attend the dialogue which will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center next March 21-23," chairman of the organizing committee Syarifudin Tippe said here on Monday.

Themed "Strengthening Security and Stability", the three-day event would be opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, defense ministers from Malaysia, Singapore, Belgium, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines and Timor Leste.

The event would also feature an Asia Pacific Security and Defense Expo participated in by 26 companies from Indonesia and abroad.(*)
