"After our investigations, we can confirm that RW is not involved in an international narcotic drugs ring," the chief of the Soekarno-Hatta airport resort police, Senior Commissioner Raynhard Silitonga, said.
Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - The adopted son of Rano Karno, the noted actor-turned deputy governor of Banten province, is not involved in an international narcotics ring, the police confirmed here on Monday.

"After our investigations, we can confirm that RW is not involved in an international narcotic drugs ring," the chief of the Soekarno-Hatta airport resort police, Senior Commissioner Raynhard Silitonga, said.

He added that RW had placed an order for ecstasy pills through an internet service from Malaysia and was not linked to overseas networks.

RW was caught with his girlfriend KA (19) in a house in the Bintaro neighbourhood in South Jakarta, after placing an order for ecstasy pills from someone in Malaysia.

The package was later sent to an address at Jalan Perkici Raya Block EB-II No.42 in Bintaro Jaya, Sector V, housing complex in South Jakarta.

Raynhard noted that based on the results of investigations, RW and his girlfriend were first timers and they had placed an order for only five pills.

He said RW and KA are plain users and not drug dealers or part of an international drug ring.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command`s Cyber Crime Department has recently been tracing orders for narcotic drugs placed through an internet service.

The command spokesman, Senior Commissioner Rikwanto confirmed that the police had been tracing drug deals through internet services.

He said the police had caught Rano Karno`s adopted son because he had bought narcotics from Malaysia through an internet service.

As the case developed, the Soekarno-Hatta police confiscated over 300 ecstasy pills.

"After we investigated, we found the narcotic deliveries to Bintaro and Manado," Rikwanto said here on Monday.

He said the police discovered distribution of ecstasy pills by the same person, known as J alias Tan from Malaysia, to three people in Indonesia living in Bintaro and Cipete in South Jakara and Manado in North Sulawesi.

He said the police had arrested RW and his girlfriend KA, AR, DN and PT and confiscated 300 ecstasy pills in Cipete and 16 in Manado.

The police are still continuing their investigation into the case, he concluded.(*)
