Malang, E Java (ANTARA News) - The Malang branch of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in East Java has set itself a target of having 50,000 permanent blood donors in 2012, its chairman Bambang Priyo Utomo said here on Tuesday.

Bambang noted that they would collect the data of the permanent blood donors, who were expected to reach 50,000 this year.

"We have set a target this year to collect 50,000 pouches of blood," he said, adding that the need for blood in Malang continued to increase every year.

According to him, the Indonesian Red Cross in Malang district, East Java, collected 41,000 pouches of blood in 2011, and this year it would reach 50,000.
