Kupang, E Nusatenggara (ANTARA News) - State owned ship operator PT Ferry Indonesia temporarily halted sea ferrys to and from East Nusatenggara due to ongoing bad weather in the area, an official said.

"The operation will stop beginning March 14 at 2 and will be opened again once the weather condition is back to normal," Operational Manager of PT Ferry Indonesia in Kupang, Arnoldus Yansen, said here on Wednesday.

Yansen noted that the decision to stop the ferry service was taken after receiving information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) about weather conditions in the area.

"BMKG predicts the presence of four to five meter-high waves in the area traveling at a speed of 15-25 kilometers per hour. This condition endangers sea transportation activities there," he said.
