Karawang, West Java (ANTARA News) - Some 15 people were injured when a Bima Suci bus traveling on the Merak-Bandung route hit a road devider and rolled into a ditch at KM 59 Jakarta-Cikampek toll road in Karawang regency, West Java on Sunday.

A number of the bus passengers said the mishap occurred after the bus police no A-7821-A driven by Kusnadi (44) was traveling at high speed from Jakarta to Cikampek.

The road development authority (Jasa Marga) who came to the accident site directly rushed the injured to the Karya Husada hospital in Cikampek, Karawang.

The 15 injured passengers were Ambarwati (57), Samsul Hidayat (51), Agus (23) of Andir, Bandung, Edi Hidayat (42) of Bandung, Ahmad Mujijat (23), Atin Arieska (40) of Bandung, Apid (20), Yuswandi (44) of West Lampung, Nirwan Fauzi (35), Oppi (23) of Lampung, Rukmana (34), Kusnadi (44) the bus driver, Nikita Syarufina (22), Gunarto (40) of North Jakarta, and Triyatni (28) of Kebumen.

At the hospital, the bus driver who lost consciousness received intensive treatment.

An injured passenger, Atin Arieska, did not know for sure what had caused the accident because he was asleep.

But the only thing that he remembered was that the bus was thrown far from the highway and reached a roadside after hitting the road divider on the left and fell into a ditch and eventually rolled over.

"I woke up when the bus was thrown and rolled over several times," he said. (*)
