"Indonesia is expected to fulfill its role in the southern countries, as it is considered a country that can provide experience to other developing countries," said Siti Mauludiah.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will conduct a technical training session as part of the implementation of the Triangle Cooperation and the South-South Forum.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry`s Director of Technical Cooperation, Siti Mauludiah, the training allows the Indonesian government to promote its experience and excellence in implementing technical cooperation programs.

"Indonesia is expected to fulfill its role in the southern countries, as it is considered a country that can provide experience to other developing countries," said Siti Mauludiah here on Wednesday.

In practice, the ministry is also working with a number of government agencies, such as the National Development Planning Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Public Works, and the National Agency for Disaster Management.

The ministry will also bring a number of small and medium businesses to the training, in order to involve the private sector in international cooperation.

"We want the private sector to also participate in the South to South cooperation diplomacy framework," said the ministry`s Technical Cooperation Directorate official, Robert Sitorus.

The cooperation would include training in the agriculture sector, workshops on strengthening public-private cooperation, as well as visits to a number of foreign diplomatic representatives of the training agencies.

Further, training in agriculture is to discuss post-harvest technology for fruits and vegetables, with 18 participants representing countries such as Fiji, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Cambodia, Algeria, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Iran, and Mexico.

Training in the water management sector will be offered to five participants from three African countries; Madagascar, Sudan, and Zimbabwe.

According to plans, Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa will open and inaugurate the forum on April 9 at the Foreign Affairs Ministry`s office here in Jakarta.(*)
