Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The National Disaster Management Board (BNPB) on Thursday reported five people were dead after a powerful earthquake measuring 8.5 on the Richter Scale struck Simeulue district, Aceh province, last Wednesday afternoon.

"Most of them are dead due to heart attack and shock after the Wednesday quake hit Aceh," Chairman of BNPB Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said here on Thursday.

He added one local people is still in critical condition while six other are lightly injured.
