Medan (ANTARA News) - A quake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted Simeulue regency in Aceh province Wednesday at 2:43 am local time.

Head of Data and Information Service of Medan Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Hendra Suwarta said the quake is located 1.03 degrees Northern Latitude and 91.56 degrees Eastern Longitude, and its epicenter is 533 kilometers southwest of Simeulue in a depth of 100 kilometers under the sea, and has no potential for a tsunami.

On Sunday at 10.17 am local time a tremor also jolted Simeulue with a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale.

The quake was located 1.33 degrees Northern Latitude and 91.93 degrees Eastern Longitude in a depth of 152 kilometers under the sea.(*)
