"She worked well days and nights."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that Health Minister Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih has expressed a desire to resign from her ministerial post because her health conditions hamper her ability to discharge her duties as a minister.

"She told me that she wanted to resign and I am moved to hear it," the president informed the press after he visited the minister at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital here on Thursday.

Accompanying the president on his visit to the hospital were Mrs Ani Yudhoyono and Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam.

The president stated that he respected the minister`s wishes; however, he was hopeful that she would be cured by the treatment and recover her health.

"For the time being, the duties of the minister will be carried out by the deputy health minister and by the relevant officials," the president added.

When he met the minister, Yudhoyono said that she was still able to communicate well and that he joined with others in praying for her recovery.

"Of course I believe that God`s miracle could cure her disease," noted the Head of State.

The president asserted that Minister Endang has discharged her duties well so far, and when he visited regions with her, the health minister always worked well.

"She worked well days and nights," the president added.
