PLTGB machinery which had been imported from Germany.
Timika, Papua (ANTARA News) - After a delay for five years since 2008, the gas and coal power plant (PLTGB) in Timika will be realized this year.

Manager of state power firm PT PLN Timika office Semuel Farwas said in Timika Tuesday that in a meeting with House Commission VII in Manokwari on April 16, 2012, PLN will move the machinery of PLTGB from Labuan Bajo to Timika.

The 2x3 megawatts PLTGB machinery which had been imported from Germany was originally meant to increase the power capacity in Manggarai Barat regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Farwas said PLN has received a Decision of Mimika Regent on the granting of land as a location for building the PLTGB in Ayuka hamlet, which was a port for explosives of PT Freeport Indonesia which had been granted to the Mimika regency administration.

State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan when he was President Director of state oil company PT Pertamina had made an inspection of the location of the future Timika PLTGB in Ayuka hamlet in mid-2011.

Farwas said that in a not too distant future his officials along with Mimika regency administration officials will meet the public figures of Ayuka community, especially the residents as owners of the location of the PLTGB so that the local population will support the construction of the public facility on behalf of the people of Mimika.

He added that if the project could be realized in a not too distant future, in the next three to five years, the people of Timika would always have electricity.
