Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The number of Indonesians making the small hajj to Mecca has been increasing in the past two years, according to a source from a local travel agency.

"During the past two years, the number of people conducting the small hajj to Mecca has increased by about 30 to 40 percent. The increase is most clearly reflected in the long queues of hajj travelers in the country," General Manager of Kafilah Utama travel agency Dian Triwati said here on Tuesday, on the sidelines of a meeting between travel agents who give service to hajj and small hajj travelers.

Looking at the increasing demand for small hajj travel, Dian said her company was trying to improve its services in visa arrangement, transportation, accommodation, and food supply for its customers.

Business Development Director from Dar Al Elman travel agency Thaha El Sayed said his company would focus on the getting the best hotel deals for hajj and small hajj travelers.

"About 30 percent of the room occupancy in hotels in Mecca and Medina is by Indonesians. Indonesia is a potential country for hajj travel business because the country has the biggest Muslim community in the world," he added.
