Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The USS Blue Ridge and crew concluded its goodwill visit to Indonesia on May 15, according to the US Embassy here in its official website on Tuesday.

Before departing, 7th Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Swift hosted U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel and Indonesian guests at an evening reception to celebrate the close cooperation between our two countries.

During its stay in Indonesia, the USS Blue Ridge welcomed winners from an Embassy Twitter contest to tour the ship, the 7th Fleet band performed live music in Jakarta, and the sailors participated in community service activities.

The USS Blue Ridge, flagship of the U.S. Navy`s Seventh Fleet, arrived in Indonesia May 11 for a goodwill visit and activities with the Indonesian Navy.

The USS Blue Ridge has been based in the Western Pacific since 1979, and its home port is Yokosuka, Japan. During an arrival ceremony for the ship and its approximately 620-person crew, Capt. Daniel Grieco thanked the Indonesian people for the warm welcome the ship received.

In his remarks, Capt. Grieco stated, "The United States and Indonesia share democratic and seafaring traditions as well as a mutual desire for stability in this region."
