"Foreign investment is giving a positive contribution."
Mamuju (ANTARA News) - Head of One Door Integrated Service (PTSP) and the Electronic Information Service and Investment Licensing (SIPISE) of the West Sulawesi Capital Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPMD) Ir.Surung Katta said that investments had been increasing with 38 foreign businessmen investing in West Sulawesi.

"The investment climate in West Sulawesi had been improving every year, which is marked by the realization of foreign investment which last year increased to Rp570 billion," Ir.Surung Katta said in Mamuju on Saturday.

He said in 2010 foreign investment reached only a little more than Rp36 billion.

"Foreign investment has increased drastically in a year, which is an indication that foreign investors have become increasingly interested in the young province," Surung said.

He added that the 38 foreign companies with an investment in West Sulawesi are mpw also employing 79 people.

"While the number of employees is not so many yet, foreign investment is giving a positive contribution to the development of West Sulawesi," he said.

He predicted that foreign investment will further increase this year especially with the great number of foreign businessmen conducting oil and gas explorations in the waters of West Sulawesi.

"Foreign investment in West Sulawesi has become increasingly conducive which is the main purpose of the administration of Governor Anwar Adnan Saleh," Surung said.
