Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Yudhoyono has announced five policies on the national energy saving program in order to prevent budget deficits. They start from fuel control system until the utilization of tax instrument.

The first policy is to control the fuel distribution system at every fuel filling station (SPBU) by using information technology, the head of state said in his speech on the energy efficiency program at the State Palace, here, Tuesday.

The technology will automatically record the data of every car including its ownership and physical shape, and how many liters of subsidized oil fuel purchased for the car daily.

"This step will guarantee that the oil fuel consumption, particularly the subsidized ones, can be controlled transparently and it is accountable. And it should reach the right targets," Yudhoyono said. This means tax money should be use in particular way.

Secondly, as Yudhoyono mentioned, the government's vehicles are not allowed to use subsidized oil fuel. The government will issue special stickers for the vehicles belonging to the government and state-owned enterprises in Jakarta and other regions.

Thirdly, vehicles owned by plantation and mining companies are also banned from using subsidized oil fuel. The government will also apply a sticker system to control it.

The two other policies concern the conversion of oil fuel to gas, and the obligation of the central and regional government offices as well as state-owned enterprises to save electricity and water.

Instead of the energy saving program, some people believes that it will not as good as it says.
