Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his entourage arrived in Bangkok at 10:45 a.m. local time to attend the World Economic Forum on East Asia (WEFEA).

After landing at Bangkok`s Don Mueang airport, President Yudhoyono, who is on a working visit to Thailand and Singapore from May 31 through June 3, was greeted by Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand Luthfi Rauf and several Thai foreign ministry officials.

According to the President, the World Economic Forum on East Asia would have a significant impact on global economic development.

Before leaving for Bangkok, the head of state underscored the importance of investments and efforts to find new opportunities in order to reach the economic growth target of 6.5 percent.

Besides being a speaker at the WEFEA, President Yudhoyono will hold a bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra before leaving for Singapore.

In Singapore, Yudhoyono will attend the Shangri-la Dialogue where he is scheduled to give his keynote address.

"The Shangri-la Dialogue is part of an annual meeting on defence and security in the Asia-Pacific region," he said.

The President is also scheduled to meet with his new Singaporean counterpart, Tony Tan Keng Yam, and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

President Yudhoyono and his entourage will return to Jakarta on Sunday (June 3). (*)
