Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - The Korea Association of Health Promotion is providing assistance for 10 elementary schools in the fields of health education and environmental stewardship in the city of Banda Aceh.

Banda Aceh Regional Secretary Ramli Rashid said here on Thursday (May 31) the objective of the cooperation with the Korean organisation was to improve the provision of facilities and the quality of management at the school health unit, as well as to foster a culture of environmental care.

"The cooperation agreement between the Korea Association of Health Promotion and the education, youth and sports regional office, health department regional office and the Permata Hati Hospital has been signed. I hope this cooperation is done well," Ramli said.

The cooperation agreement was signed by the Chairman of the delegation of Korea Association of Health Promotion, Cho Han-Ik, and Head of Education, Youth and Sports office Syaridin, Chief Medical Officer Yulizar and Director of the Permata Hati hospital Marzuki.

Ramli expressed hope the cooperation would lead to improved provision of facilities at the health education unit, along with and the development of a comprehensive health database for students from grade one through grade six.

"We also hope the school`s principal, teachers and administrators would ensure better management of the health education unit," he said.

Cho explained the school`s health programme was part of the Korean government`s assistance efforts through the Korea International Cooperation Agency, which would be implemented over the next three years.

"We hope this programme can help develop a healthy generation for building the future of this country and that this cooperation can last forever" he added.(*)
