RI, Belarus in talks to sign 14 bilateral MoUs

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Belarus are currently discussing the signing of 14 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to enhance their cooperation in the future, declared Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa here on Monday after meeting with his visiting counterpart, Sergei Martynov.

"There are a lot of opportunities that can be explored by the two countries in the fields of trade, agriculture and mining," Marty remarked, adding that the two countries have agreed to cooperate in the fields of economy, trade, research and technology, education, defense and double taxation.

Meanwhile, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov stated that the 14 MoUs that will be signed soon are expected to strengthen the 19-year-old relationship between the two countries.

"Ahead of the 20th anniversary of our bilateral relations next year, Belarus sees mutually beneficial political and economic opportunities in Indonesia," Martynov remarked.

He added that the bilateral relations between the two countries will grow even stronger following the establishment of the Belarusian embassy in Indonesia on Monday. (*)
