Haiyang, China (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s four beach volleyball teams advanced to the Asian Beach Games (ABG) III quarterfinals in Hiayang, China, after defeating their rivals in the knockouts on Friday.

In men`s team competitions, Indonesia`s Koko Prasetyo Darkuncoro and Ade Chandra Rachmawan beat Hasan Aaqeel Qarqoor and Husain Hasan Marhoon of Bahrain 2-0 (21-13, 21-12).

The other Indonesian men`s team, consisting of Dian Putra Santoso and Fahriansyah Teerapat, had a tough match while playing against Pulloeang and Panupong Toyam of Thailand in the first match, before winning 2-0 (21-19, 21-16.)

Koko Prasetyo Darkuncoro and Ade Chandra Rachmawan will meet Kiew Chiong Ung/Rafi Asruki Nordin of Malaysia in the quarterfinals on Saturday, while Dian Putra Santoso and Fahriansyah Teerapat will play against Parviz Farrokhi/Aghmohammad Salagh of Iran.

In the women`s team, Indonesia`s Ayu Cahyaning Siam, who teamed up with Dhita Juliana, beat Liu Pi-hsin/Wu Shu-fen of China Taipei 2-0 (23-21, 21-12).

The other Indonesian women`s team, consisting of Fitri Wijayanti and Dini Jasita Putu Utami, also saw success by defeating Huynh Do Hong Loan and Phan Thi Thu Ha of Vietnam 2-0 (21-19, 21-16).

In the upcoming quarterfinals, Ayu Cahyaning Siam and Dhita Juliana will play against Hu Anna/Chen Chunxia of China and Fitri Wijayanti and Dini Jasita Putu Utami will meet Varapatsorn Radarong/Tanarattha Udomchavee of Thailand.

The 3rd ABG will open on Saturday, June 16. Beach volleyball teams from numerous countries will take part in 13 events during the games, competing for 49 gold medals.(*)
