Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA News) - Customs authorities at Sultan Iskandar Muda international airport in Aceh Besar district, Aceh province, foiled an attempt to smuggle heroin and crystal methamphetamine (shabu-shabu) worth Rp9.975 billion on Sunday.

"Officers found the contraband from a passenger of Air Asia plying between Kuala Lumpur and Banda Aceh on June 17," head of the Banda Aceh customs and excise office Beni Novri said here Monday.

The heroin weighing 1,995.8 grams had a street value of about Rp7.983 billion and the shabu-shabu weighing 997.9 grams had a street value of Rp1.995 billion, he said.

The 32-year old passenger, identified by initial as S, is a resident of Bireuen district, Aceh province. He is being held in custody.

"The contraband was hidden on the lower, left and right partitions of the suspect`s suitcase," Beni said.(*)
