Denpasar (ANTARA News) - A Kutuh village resident, Badung district, Bali, found the body of a foreign tourist on Thursday.

The remains of Mark Ovenden were discovered by I Wayan Suada on a footpath.

"We received reports from residents who went to the site. The victim`s body had bruises on the chest, which were likely due to a blow by a blunt object," according to Denpasar Police spokesman Adjunct Commissioner Ida Bagus Made Sarjana.

He explained that police did not learn the identity of the victim at the crime scene. As a result, police did not immediately know the country of origin of the victim.

"We just found a wallet containing cash totaling 657 thousand rupiah and a Visa card. In addition, there was the vehicle registration of the motorcycle used by the victim, a Honda Vario, number DK 7624 DA in the name of Komal Wija," he said.

He also could not confirm a motive for the murder, because the case is still being investigated. Police continue questioning witnesses and gathering evidence.

The body of the victim had been taken to the General Hospital Center Sanglah, Denpasar, for further investigation, including a planned autopsy.
