Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The former national karate athlete Tommy Firman expressed disappointment on the achievement of the Indonesian karate contingent who grabbed only one gold and four bronze medals in the World Karate Federation (WKF) Premier League 2012 here.

"It is a disappointed result. This is the result of competing in our own country. I am sure they are lack of preparation," Tommy said on the sidelines of the World Karate Federation closing ceremony in the Senayan Tennis Indoor stadium here on Sunday.

Indonesia as the host in the world karate championship only ranked fifth after Iran, Japan, France and South Korea.

The only gold medal reached by the Indonesian team is through the men`s group, the three bronze medals obtained from men`s and women`s groups and one bronze from men`s +60kg kumite gained by Yelovin Prasetyo Piscessa.

The World Karate Federation (WKF) Premier League 2012 took place on June 23-24.

There were 14 classes that competed in the championship. Eight of them competed on the first day and the rest on Sunday," the general chairman of the Indonesian Karate Federation (Forki), Hendardji Soepandji said here on Saturday.
