Junalis expressed optimism that the hospital, to be managed by medical experts from Palestine, would receive its first patients early 2013.
Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian hospital in Gaza, Palestine, will function not only as a medical facility, but also as a symbol of brotherhood between the two countries, coordinator of Global March Movement to Jerusalem (GMJ), Ribhi Halloum Hijazi, said here on Thursday.

"Besides being a medical facility for Palestinian people, the hospital also has a variety of messages to convey to the world, such as being a symbol of brotherhood between Indonesia and Palestine," Halloum Hijazi said.

Speaking during a conference on the liberation of Al-Quds and Palestine, he noted that the presence of the Indonesian hospital, built by the Medical Emergency Rescue-Committee (Merc-C) Indonesia in Gaza, was very important as a medical facility and to promote brotherhood between the two countries.

According to him, the hospital has three main messages. First, it is the symbol of solidarity between the people of Indonesia and Palestine; second, is that in no way and by no technological means will the Zionist country be able to wipe out the people of Palestine because they are not alone; and the third, the people of Indonesia will always be with the Palestinians until they have their rights back.

Meanwhile, Merc-C coordinator Jose Jurnalis said that the basic construction of the hospital has reached its finishing stage under the coordination of seven engineers from Indonesia and workers from Palestine.

He said Indonesia was ready to give any kind of humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine and will increase public health facilities thanks to the presence of the Indonesian hospital in Gaza.

Indonesia was also ready to continue its contributions to the establishment of a free Palestinian state.
