Jakarta, July 13 (ANTARA) - Indonesia calls and urges international community to give serious and real attention in sabing coral reefs as well as fishery resources in Coral Triangle area. This Coral Triangle area is marine area which is known for the rich of biology biodiversity and marine potential. It has been said by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sharif C Sutardjo in Rio+20 Forum last June.

In the world stage, Sharif said his readiness and commitment for "Coral Triangle Initiative-Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security" (CTI-CFF) by making it as an implementation framework from blue conomy concept. "It is as a result of several similarities with Guide Principles of CTI-CFF that promote biodiversity conservation to community," he continued.

If it is reviewed, the blue economy concept is focused on marine and waters sectors, which also emphasized a balance between economic development and carrying capacity of the environment to affect the public welfare. On the other hand, he continued, good marine ecosystem can support society livelihoods, and sustainable economy development. The implementation of economy concept in marine and fisheries sector are expected to drive economy development which is more balance between resources utilization and environment protecting efforts. It is because there will be more developed economy activities in marine and fisheries sector. With this concept, policy orientation changing and balancing of terrestrial and marine-based development are expected to be realized.

Meanwhile, Rio+20 Forum has agreed to strenghten shared commitment to CTI-CFF program implementation according to Regional Action Plan (RAP) and National Action Plan (NAP). This truly comprehensive action plan in each management program of coastal and marineresources is the result of six countries' agreement while declared the form of CTI-CFF regional initiative in 2009 in Manado.

In addition, Rio+20 agreed to emphasize the importance of marine and coastal resources management. A sustainable marine resources management can impact the economic growth, poverty elimination, food resilience and adaptation to the climate change. Strategically reviewed, the initiatives have been set the missions and actions of regional priorities to address great threats to sustainability of marine and fisheries resources in Coral Triangle area. It is characterized with some priorities actions from world countries in various negotiations. The scientific world stages (CTI-CF), has attended by more than 150 scientist, practitioner and governments form members' countries and approximately 170 academic manuscripts which announced in several sessions.

In a short periode, Indonesia will follow the International Coral Reef Symposium in Cairns, Australia. This symposium will discuss on science and technology approachment of coral reefs in an effort to build a sustainable marine and fisheries. The plan is Indonesian Government through the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), will provide exposure on the condition of coral reefs in Indonesia. ICRS is an activity of scientific symposium which will be held for five days and attended by 2,500 scientists from more than 80 countries, for research and discuss the latest technology development of coral reefs. "The results of research scientists is very important for the policy arrangement of coral reefs resources management in the world,"he explained.

Dr Lubencho is a key speaker who represents Indonesia, which brings the theme CTI-CFF is the the story about the leadership, partnership from many discipline and interdisciplinary of stakeholders, interest groups and science to develop and implement creative solutions in order to address challenges in food resilience sector, amidst the climate change and ocean acidification."
