Kupang (ANTARA News) - The Government of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province will launch an international marine event, titled "Sail Komodo 2013", in the provincial capital of Kupang on Tuesday, according to chief of the local Tourism and Creative Economic Office, Abraham Klakik.

"Governor Frans Lebu Raya will launch the Sail Komodo 2013 on Tuesday in conjunction with a ceremony to welcome the arrival of Sail Morotai 2012 yacht rally participants in Kupang Bay," he stated here on Monday.

Abraham said the local government was waiting for a 'Presidential Decision' on Sail Komodo 2013, but it had already started preparations for the event.

"We plan to launch the event on July 31 during the welcome ceremony for the yacht rally participants who will arrive in Kupang Bay on Tuesday," Abraham added.

He said Sail Komodo 2013 would be launched in the presence of hundreds of tourists from various countries whose yachts would have started arriving from Darwin, Australia.

Abraham noted that rally participants made Kupang their entry point before sailing on to the western part of Indonesia.

The plan to launch Sail Komodo 2013 had already been discussed with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, as well as Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono, he added.

"We have communicated with Jakarta about the launch of Sail Komodo, so we don`t really have to wait for Presidential Decision. Therefore, the event launch will be on Tuesday in order to show that we are ready to host the international marine event in 2013," Abraham explained.
