British tourists visiting Bali up 63% in number

Denpasar (ANTARA News) - The number of British visitors to Bali surged 63.12 percent to 72,978 in the first half of 2012 compared with the same period last year.

The number was around 5.12 percent of the total number of foreign visitors to this world`s major tourist destination, Gede Suarsa, head of the Bali Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said.

The number of visitors from Britain grew faster placing them the sixth largest in number among foreign visitors to Bali, up from normally the eight largest, Suarsa said here on Saturday.

The largest in number are visitors from Australia, followed by China, Malaysia, Japan and South Korea.

Suarsa said an increase was recorded in the numbers of visitors from all ten main countries of origin.

The numbers of visitors from Australia rose 40.48 percent, from China up 52.27 percent, from Malaysia 29.01 percent, from South Korea 40.79 percent and from Japan 9.15 percent.

Significant growth was also recorded in the number of visitors from other countries including Taiwan, Singapore, Russia and the United States, he said.
