Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Astra International Tbk has set a target of exporting up to 120,000 units of Toyota and Daihatsu cars a year to countries in the Middle East, Africa and Japan.

"The production capacity of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia is estimated to reach 155,000 units a year and 50,000 of them are exported to various countries in the Middle East, Africa and Japan. For Daihatsu out of 120,000 units, 70,000 would be exported," the company`s president director, Prijono Sugiarto, said at the launch of Toyota Agya and Daihatsu Ayla here on Wednesday.

He said among the products desired by export markets are multi- purpose vehicle and sport utility vehicle models.

"Avanza, Innova, Grand Max, Terios, Rush and Fortuner are the most popular among consumers abroad," he said.

To increase investment Prijono said he would ask for an attractive incentive from the government.

"Right now we are proposing a tax holiday for the expansion of the Toyota plant. While for the development of the ADM (Astra Daihatsu Motor) factory in Karawang we wish to be given a tax allowance," he said.

Prijono said the cooperation between the government and businesses must be stepped up to boost economic growth.

"Cooperation between the government and the private sector is needed to support the Indonesian economy," he said.(*)
