"Out of many candidates I finally named Rudi Rubiandini as head of the SSK Migas."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has named Rudi Rubiandini, currently deputy minister of energy and mineral resources, as head of the new upstream oil and gas regulating agency, SKK Migas.

"After some consideration it was decided that it was not right for the post to be double with other post and therefore we have set up the SSK Migas with its own chief executive so that the agency could be professional, accountable and could be audited," he said at a press conference.

"Out of many candidates I finally named Rudi Rubiandini as head of the SSK Migas. He had earlier worked at BP Migas (the former oil and gas regulating agency) for the last three years and therefore it is hoped he understands his duties and obligations as well as the challenges," he said.

Rudi was replaced by Susilo Siswo Utomo as deputy minister for energy and mineral resources, formerly a special staff of the minister of energy and mineral resources.

"So, I hope the new officials in the energy sector - the minister, deputy minister and head of SKK Migas could carry out their duties well," he said.

The President said the sector must be managed well because it is vital for the people as well as the national economy.

"In view of that we need correct policy and management to assure that in the middle and long term the energy needs could be met," he said.

President Yudhoyono was flanked by vice president Boediono when announcing the name of the new SSK Migas head as well as the new youth and sports minister, and the new deputy minister for energy and mineral resources.
