Cikarang (ANTARA News) - Japan eyes populated countries in Asia including Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand to develop and market its SMEs products, Chairman of Forval Corp (business consultant company for Japanese government) Hideo Okubo said here on Monday.

Okubo who was interviewed after the launching of Japanese SMEs Center in Lippo Cikarang, East Jakarta, said high operational cost and long-term inflation in Japan makes it hard for SMEs sector to develop its business in domestic market.

The establishment of 5.3 hectares-wide Japanese SMEs Center in Jakarta is expected to boost Japanese entrepreneurs to invest in Indonesia. Among companies which have already inhabited the newly established SMEs center in Jakarta are metal processing, industrial component and printing device for industry.

Meanwhile Chief of Economic Affairs from Japan Embassy in Jakarta Shigeru Ushio said Indonesia`s economic growth which is above 6 percent and its high number of population are potential market for Japanese products.

"Therefore more development in infrastructure in Indonesia needs to be done," he said.
