Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA News) - Five aftershocks have been recorded after the first one at 7.2 on the Richter Scale in Papua at 11.42 on Saturday.

A staff of the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency V office in Jayapura, Hakim, told ANTARA the aftershocks occurred in the district of Tolikara which was the epicenter of the first quake.

"The aftershocks averagely measured between 4 and 5 on the Richter Scale," he added.

The first was recorded at 4.3, the second at 4.3, the third at 4.9, the fourth at 4.7 and the fifth at 5.2 on the Richter Scale, he said.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency continued monitoring the situation and has already reported the quake to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the office spokesman, Sutopo Purwo, said in Jakarta.

"There have been no reports of casualties and damages so far," he said adding that most houses in Tolikara are made of wood or half bricks and half wood.

He said the quake was also felt in Yapen, Jayapura, and Timika.
