Hong Kong (ANTARA News/CNA) - About HK$3 million (S$489,000) in cash and jewellery was stolen from Hong Kong veteran singer-actress Liza Wang`s three-storey home on Monday night, reported Hong Kong media.

Police believe a burglar broke into her home by prying open a sliding glass door, while her two foreign domestic helpers were out walking the dogs, and took a safe which was hidden in her bedroom closet.

Her foreign domestic helpers discovered the crime when they returned about 20 minutes later.

"Within 20 minutes, the burglar took the safe, my cash, diamonds, wedding ring and passport," she said.

"The losses were heavy. Fortunately, nobody was at home at the time and nobody was hurt. Friends, please don't worry!" said Wang in a micro blog post on Tuesday.

Only her bedroom was found to have been ransacked.

This is the third time her home had been broken into in the past 20 years.

"The odds of that happening are even greater than that of striking the lottery!" lamented the 65-year-old star.

"This is my hard-earned money, for my old age. Really! I hope the police can do something and protect the citizens lives and property, thank you!"

Hong Kong police said they are currently investigating whether the case is linked to a few other recent burglaries in nearby areas.
