Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The West Java police named four suspects in the case of boat carrying 204 illegal immigrants that sank in Indonesia`s Cianjur Selatan waters last Tuesday (July 23), police spokesman said.

The boat carried a total of 204 asylum seekers from Srilanka, Iraq and Iran, 15 of them were found dead after the incident while the rest of 189 survive.

"There are four suspects in this case. We are still investigating the case, hence we cannot announce their names at the moment," National Police`s Chief of Information Unit Senior Commissioner Agus Rianto said here on Friday.

He added the 189 survivors are now placed in temporary shelter in Cianjur and Sukabumi (West Java province).

Meanwhile Police`s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) personnel are deployed in the hospital to help the identification process of the 15 casualties.

The police are also coordinating with related officials from the embassies of the victims` countries of origin in Jakarta.

Last Tuesday (July 23) a boat carrying 204 illegal immigrants from Iraq, Iran and Srilanka sank in Cianjur Selatan sea area.

The boat was en route to cross over Indonesia`s territory to Australia when the incident happened. Early report said the boat was sinking due to leakage on its hull.(*)
