Nanning, China (ANTARA News) - ASEAN and China are organizing more joint trade promotion activities and holding another business and investment summit as side events of the China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, Guanxi province, China, from September 3 to 6.

These routine side events, which started on Tuesday, are being held to mark the 10th anniversary of ASEAN-China strategic partnership.

Among the many ASEAN leaders attending the event were Myanmar President U Thein Sein, Thai Prime Minister Yinluck Shinawatra, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Laotian Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean.

At the opening event, Indonesia was represented by Director General of National Export Development Gusmardi Bustami, Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia Imron Cotan, and Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X.

Yogyakarta is being presented as a City of Charm at the trade and investment exhibition.

Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang stated that ASEAN and China, over their 10 years of strategic partnership, had proven the importance of cooperation based on mutual respect in various fields.

"Currently, China is ASEAN's largest trade partner and ASEAN is China's third-largest trade partner. Over the past 10 years, both sides have benefited much from the strategic partnership," he noted, adding that China was looking forward to working more closely with ASEAN in many sectors, particularly in trade and investment.
