"Chinese accumulative investments in ASEAN countries since 2003 has increased to US$ 23.56 billion while trade volume has reached US$ 400.9 billion, higher than 2003 when it stood at US$ 59.6 billion," said Boediono.
Nanning, China (ANTARA News) - ASEAN and China can support each other in many fields, especially in facing the global economic crisis, said Indonesian Vice President Boediono.

"ASEAN and China have shown good cooperation in various fields, especially business and investments in the last ten years," he said in a written statement, read by the Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia Imron Cotan in the tenth anniversary of China ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China, on Wednesday.

Boediono explained that the forum has been successful in promoting and enhancing economic cooperation between ASEAN and China as well as encouraging the development of ASEAN Free Trade Area - China in the last ten years.

CABIS also has a strong foundation to deepen and broaden ASEAN-China cooperation, including facilitating the implementation of the agreement by all the parties within the framework of ASEAN-China strategic partnership, especially in business and investments.

"Chinese accumulative investments in ASEAN countries since 2003 has increased to US$ 23.56 billion while trade volume has reached US$ 400.9 billion, higher than 2003 when it stood at US$ 59.6 billion," said Boediono.

According to Boediono, Indonesia has become the country of honour at CABIS 2010, in which Indonesia had the opportunity to promote the full potential, not only to prospective investors from China but also other countries who attended the annual event.

"I hope the trade and investment between ASEAN and China will increase in the future and benefit the people of both sides. We are facing a long road and we can never predict what will happen in the future, but by working together and supporting each other, we can get through anything, including the economic crisis that is now engulfing other regions," he said.

Speeches by other ASEAN leaders have been conveyed by their respective ambassadors in China during the CABIS forum. Nine other ASEAN countries leaders expressed their hope that CABIS can further strengthen the relations between the two parties, especially in trade and investment cooperation, to improve the economy of ASEAN and China.(*)
