"We almost finish making preparations. About 80 percent of the preparations have been completed," Chairul said when attending a coordination meeting for the APEC summit preparations here on Sunday.
He said that as the steering committee, his side still had three weeks to finish all of the preparations before the summit was held. The series of events of APEC will begin on October 1 and last until 9, 2013.
Chairul explained that most of the remaining 20 percent preparations were about infrastructure such as the project with regard to the Ngurah Rai International Airport, hotels and several other technical preparations.
"We hope the airport infrastructure would be finished on September 29 but on September 19, it is expected that the use of the airport would be started," he said.
It was reported earlier that some 1,200 business leaders are expected to take part in the APEC CEO Summit to be held in Bali on October 5-7, according to the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics.
"Some 1,200 business leaders will come (to Bali) for the APEC CEO meeting," the head of the ministry`s information center and public relations, Gatot Dewa Broto said last week.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is slated to open the three-day meeting.
The APEC CEO Summit is the Asia-Pacific`s premier business event. It provides unparalleled opportunities for business executives to engage in dialogue with Presidents, Prime Ministers and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to discover business opportunities through networking with CEOs from hundreds of top Asia-Pacific companies, and to forge connections with economic thought leaders from around the region and the world.
Gatot said a number of heads of state, private sector leaders and influential figures in the Asia Pacific region will address a series of meetings to be held ahead of the APEC Summit.
A number of world leaders, including US President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President China Xi Jinoing have confirmed participation in the summit.
This year the summit is themed "Resilient Asia Pacific, and Engine of Global Growth".
The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has accredited 2,300 journalists around the world to cover the APEC summit.
"There is a total of 2,300 journalists that had accredited to cover the APEC Summit since the press registration opened in early August," Gatot S Dewabroto, told the press following the APEC Summit 2013 Press Briefing last week.
Dewabroto noted that the committee accept 180 to 200 registration per day with mostly coming from US, Japan, China, and Russia, besides from Indonesian media.
"We predict it would be increased until the registration closing date on September 10," he said.
According to Dewabroto, approximately five thousands people from the 21 APEC economies delegations and journalists to arrive in Bali on next October.
"We establish an inter-related team between the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, APEC Committee, and Bali local government to organize this event," he said.
