Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Metropolitan Police have arrested two people, known by their initials as CS and K, alias AY, for supplying guns used in attacks on police officers in Tangerang recently.

"The suspects made and sold illegal guns to criminals targeting police officers," the command`s spokesman Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said here on Monday.

He noted that CS had been arrested in Haur Pugur village in Rancaekek, Bandung district, West Java, and K, alias AY, had been arrested in Curug Bojong Koneng, Cangkuang, Rancaekek, on Sunday.

He remarked that the duo had been in the business of producing homemade guns for tens of years in Cipacing, Sumedang, West Java.

He claimed the arrests were made as a result of a police investigation into the shooting deaths of two police officers in Cireundeu and Pondok Aren in Tangerang Selatan.

The investigation uncovered links between the guns used in the attacks and the suspects.

Rikwanto stated that CS had received an order for guns from a third party, and he had ordered gun makers, one of whom was K, alias AY, to produce these guns.

CS has sold 10 guns, including four 9-mm pistols and 9-mm revolvers, to William Maksum alias Maksum alias Alan and his suspected terrorist network.

Rikwanto claimed that CS has also sold homemade guns to the shooter who targeted police officer Nurul Haq, but the suspect has not been placed on the police`s wanted list.

If proven guilty, the two suspects could face a sentence of 10 years in jail.(*)
