Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested Sudjadnan Parnohadiningrat, former senior official of the foreign ministry on charge of corruption.

Sudjadnan, former secretary general of the foreign ministry, is accused of misusing state fund set aside for in international seminars, causing a total loss of Rp18 billion in state fund in 2004-2005, chief spokesman of KPK Priharsa Nugraha said here on Thursday.

Priharsa said Sudjadnan, who had also served as Indonesian ambassador to the United States claimed he was only a victim.

"I was made a victim in the case," he said, adding he was cheated by his subordinates.

He said as a secretary of the organizing committee of a Tsunami Summit in January, 2005, he succeeded in raising Rp42 trillion for the tsunami victims in Aceh .

He said as a secretary general of the foreign ministry he was responsible for the disbursement of funds for international conferences held by the foreign ministry in 2004-2005.

However, the most responsible were his subordinates, the members of the seminar committee that directly handled the finance and logistics, he said.

He said Eka Warsita, head of the bureau of finance, and Putu, the budget manager were the most responsible .

"They used the money. They spent the money and then reported to me how much they spent," he said.

Earlier the corruption court of Jakarta punished Sudjadnan with a a year and 8 month jail term for illegal use of fund for renovation of an embassy building in Singapore in 2011.(*)
