Indonesians in Thailand are expected to be more aware about the situation where they live and are asked to stay indoors unless they need to venture out for something urgent.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesias Embassy in Bangkok issued a statement on Tuesday, urging all Indonesians living in Thailand to avoid mass rally locations, such as near the Democracy Monument, the Government Complex, the Government House and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Indonesians in Thailand are expected to be more aware about the situation where they live and are asked to stay indoors unless they need to venture out for something urgent," the statement said.
Indonesians residing in Thailand have also been urged to immediately contact the embassy in Bangkok if they face any trouble as a result of the ongoing mass rallying in Thailand.
Thousands of protesters have held series of demonstrations in front of government buildings since November demanding that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra step down. The protests started after Yinglucks political party proposed a bill, which would allow the Prime Ministers brother and former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to return home from exile in London without having to face jail sentence. Thaksin was sentenced to two years in jail for corruption in 2008.
Responding to these protests, Prime Minister Yingluck has called for negotiations with the protesters. Up till now, the protests are still continuing.(*)
