Attorney General`s Office confirmed the arrest of the bank`s commercial banking center manager, Rudi Wibisono, whose name had also been placed on the `Most Wanted` list.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Attorney Generals Office has arrested a Bank Mandiri official in connection with the disbursal of loans to build a thermal power plant in Central Kalimantan, which led to Rp43 billion in losses for the state.
A spokesman for the Attorney Generals Office, Setia Untung Arimuladi, confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of the banks commercial banking center manager, Rudi Wibisono, whose name had also been placed on the Most Wanted list.
A task force from the Attorney Generals Office made the arrest on Tuesday in cooperation with the South Jakarta Public Prosecutors Office, he said.
"He was arrested at Putri Indah Estate at Gunung Putri Street, Bogor, at 2.00 p.m. local time," he added.
Rudi had been placed on the South Jakarta Public Prosecutors Offices Most Wanted list after he was sentenced to four +years in jail and fined Rp200 million.
The accused was taken to the Public Prosecutors Office to sign an official report on serving his sentence, Setia said.
"He will be escorted later to the Sukamiskin penitentiary in Bandung," he added.
He pointed out that Rudi was convicted in connection with a fictitious application to the state lender for loans to build a thermal power plant with a capacity of 2x7 MW in Sampit, central Kalimantan.
"The accused, Rudi Wibisono, as the commercial banking centers manager of Bank Mandiri, approved the credit proposal, which led to Rp43 billion in losses for the state," he added. (*)
