Asian indexes including BEI index opened stronger this morning to follow the US and European market trend.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite share price index opened stronger on Tuesday on positive sentiment from global markets.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange rose 21.95 points or 0.53 percent to 4,147.91 points with index of 45 most liquid stocks gaining 0.83 percent to 686.61 points.

"Asian indexes including BEI index opened stronger this morning to follow the US and European market trend. The two major markets gained with European manufacturing and US industrial production data being better than expected," Samuel Sekuritas analyst Benedictus Agung said.

The BEI index gained after significant losses over the past several days.

Among the gainers contributing to the increase in the BEI index were automotive, cement and banking stocks, Benedictus said

Head of Research of Valbury Asia Securities Alfiansyah said positive sentiment from the US market which closed stronger on Monday night had driven Asian indexes to a positive area.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng recorded a 0.37 percent increase in index to 23,200.41 points with Nikkei-225 index up 1.09 percent to 15,318.64 points and that of Straits Times lost 0.68 percent to 3,074.28 points.(*)
