Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Three suspected terrorists arrested in North Sumatras provincial capital of Medan on Monday were flown to Jakarta on Tuesday for questioning at the National Police Headquarters.

The three suspects were transported from the command post of the North Sumatra provincial polices mobile brigade (Brimob) unit in Medan on Tuesday at around 2.30 p.m. local time, under escort by squad Densus 88 personnel.

Chief of the Densus 88 team Snr. Comr. Ibnu Suhendra said on Tuesday that the three suspected terrorists, identified only by their initials, A, T and F, belonged to the Fadli Sadama terrorist cell.

They are believed to have been involved in the armed robberies at Bank CIMBs Niaga branch, a Bank Mandiri branch and a money changer in Medan.

The police will compare information on the roles of the three suspects with information received from Fadli Sadama, who was arrested recently after escaping from the Tanjung Gusta jail in Medan in July this year.

The police did not collect any evidence during the arrest of the three suspected terrorists at Medan Marelan because evidence had already been collected during the investigations of the armed robbery at Bank CIMBs Niaga branch in 2010.

"The evidence has been collected in 2010," he added.

The chief of sub-directorate 3 of Densus 88, Adj. Snr. Comr. Kris, noted that A and T, who are Fadli Sadamas brothers-in-law, have been involved in several robberies.

He added that A and T also helped Fadli Sadama flee to Malaysia after escaping from the Tanjung Gusta prison.(*)
